Agnes Grace Yemola, 84, of West Hazleton, died peacefully on Friday evening, November 9th, 2007, at the Hospice Unit of Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Harwood, Pennsylvania on February 15th, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Susan (nee Sivar) Volk.
Agnes was a member of Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church in West Hazleton. She was devoted to the Rosary and enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, cooking, and spending time with her daughter, sisters, and other family members. Her presence and smile along with her homemade pies made every holiday or family event complete. Her spirit and love will be cherished and remembered forever.
A homemaker most of her life, she was employed as an expert collar-maker at local garment factories during her younger years.
She was married for 56 years to Leo A. "Spike" Yemola until his death in March, 2005.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leo; an infant son Robert; brother Joseph Wolk; and sister Theresa Kisacky.
Agnes is survived by her daughter Mary Beth Yemola of Swoyersville, PA; sisters Mary Pierce of St. Augustine, FL, Margaret Heiser and Rita DePretis, both of Hazleton, and Beatrice (Mrs. Robert) Shenyo of Eagle Rock; and a brother Francis (Frank) Volk of Fort Pierce, FL. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 14th, 2007, at 9:30 AM at Transfiguration R.C. Church in West Hazleton.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Drums.
Friends may call at the Hilary J. Bonin Funeral Home, 99 West Green Street, West Hazleton, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, November 13th, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday evening.
