
Cedric V. Haupt, 85, of Lehighton, died Saturday morning, December 8th, 2007, in the Kindred Unit of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Cedric was the husband of the late Millicent J. (nee Black) Haupt, who died on April 7th, 1995.
Prior to retiring, he was employed by the Philadelphia, Bethlehem and New England Railroad Company. Previously, he was a coal miner in the region.
Born in Mahoning Valley, he was a son of the late Norman and Mabel (nee Mertz) Haupt.
Cedric was a member of St. John Church, Mahoning Valley, where he volunteered as a candy maker.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
A life member of the Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club, he also belonged to the Lehighton Fire Company No. 1, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 256 in Lehighton, the Andreas Sporting Club, American Legion Post 314 in Lehighton, Trout Creek Hunting and Fishing Club of Emmaus, the Lehighton Senior Center, and the Mahoning Valley Golden Agers.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Junior, and two sisters, Eleanor Balliet and Joyce Mantz.
Cedric is survived by his daughter Darlene and her husband Bruce Hartman Sr. of Lehighton; a sister-in-law, Verna Haupt of New Ringgold; three grandchildren, Dr. Bruce Hartman of Lehighton, Troy Hartman and his wife Melissa and Dee Hartman, both of New Ringgold. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 12th, 2007, at the Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 West Penn Pike, Route 309, New Ringgold, PA.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 11th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM.
Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Mahoning Valley, Pennsylvania.
