Eugene J. Griesing, 64, of Sugarloaf, Pennsylvania, died Friday, August 8th, 2008, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born in Hazleton on May 2nd, 1944, he was the son of the late Peter and Lottie (Ohlanoski) Griesing.
An Army veteran, he served in Vietnam as a staff sergeant in Recon and Intelligence. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Army Commendation medals.
Gene was a member of the American Legion and the Vietnam Veterans of America.
He worked at Sandusky Metals, Dorr-Oliver, and the Hazleton Area School District.
Gene is survived by his wife of 41 years, Judith (Field) Griesing and a brother Thomas of Toms River, NJ. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 360 of Weatherly.
Private graveside services will be conducted in Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Rev. Donald J. Stump will officiate.

Please accept my sincere condolences with the lost of Gene. We will all miss him and his friendship pre and post Dorr-Oliver. I remember the time we were going to remove a very heavy all-steel glider from my porch. Before I posed the question on how we were going to accomplish the task, Gene single-handedly picked up the glider and loaded it onto the truck.
