Mary

Ernest was freind and great man. Always full of life and always made one smile. Will miss you in the spades rooms and your fond memories will always stay dear to us and close to our hearts. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Mary Heil (salty)

Ernie (shoe) was a great friend to me. We parded in a Spades League and grew to really get to know each other. We called each other a lot and he told me of his illness and each time he went to Philly. He also took many pictures on his bike trips. He loved his Mom. He talked about her many times. I could feel the love. I am sad that he is gone, but I know that he is in a better place without pain. If you ever want to talk you have my number. salty

Michael (Cut)

A poem for a dear friend.

God looked around his Garden and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face.
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.
His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering, he knew you were in pain.
And knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw your path was difficult, he closed you tired eyes,
He whispered to you "Peace be Thine" and gave you wings to fly.
When you were seen sleeping so calm and free of pain,
We would not wish you back to earth to suffer once again.
You've left us precious memories, your love will be our guide,
You live on through your friends and family, you're always by our side.
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you on the day god called you home.

I will miss you Ern (SoftShoe)you welcomed me with open arms into a place unfamiliar, and after a hard day at work knew I could come chat with ya and get a lift. I know your riding on a hog across the clouds right now, make sure not to stir the angels up tooo much. Will see you after a while, miss ya man. Mike

The angels came and took away a very special man, heaven is richer for having him there. I hope he finds in rest the peace he sought in life. He loved his mom very nuch and wanted for his family to follow a different path to the one he chose for the most part. We were at one point very close and i am grateful to have had him in my life, my thoughts are with Ellen and Doina and the family. To love and lose is harder than to have never loved at all. He was a very precious man with a beautiful soul who gifted everyone's life with his presence. Gone from this life but never forgotten, i hope the angels look after him, he was in life a precious gift and a precious soul and should be treated as thus in the after life. Love always for a precious gift of a man, honoured to have been close with you, Dubs xxx

Do not stand at my grave and weep .....

by Mary Frye

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there ,I do not sleep

I am in a thousand winds that blow
I am the softly falling snow

I am the gentle showers of rain
I am in the field of ripening grain

I am in the morning hush
I am in the graceful rush

Of beautiful birds in circling flight
I am the starshine of the night

I am in the flowers that bloom
I am in a quiet room

I am the birds that sing
I am in each lovely thing

Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there ,I do not die

Thank you shoes for sharing your time with me ..See you in heaven!!

Foxy AKA Cathy

Ern, Shoesy, was a great friend with a great sense of humor who was always in the spades room ready to lift my spirits after a hard day. He will be sadly missed by us all, but know he is in a better, painfree place with God now. I am a much better person having had the opportunity to get to know Shoesy and considered him a very good friend. My deepest sympathy to all of his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Shawn and Stephanie Graybeal

Our deepest condolences to Ernie's Mother and family. I came to know Ernie through my husband, Shawn, who had been playing cards online with Shoe for more than 6 years. Shawn treasured that friendship and always kept Ernie among his closest confidants.

We really feel that Ernie played a big role in bringing us together, noticing things before we were ready or willing to admit to them. We always called him our Yenta. He never liked the title but he always laughed right along side of us.

We are so very sad at his passing and the loss that it brings to our lives and all that knew him, especially those who deserved his friendship. We still find ourselves feeling like this is just a bad dream, and that we will wake up and be in contact with our friend again.

We are grateful that he is no longer suffering, no longer battling and no longer in physical or emotional pain. We have great confidence that he is at rest now, and can only help that the family can take comfort in their memories and keepsakes as they try to get through this difficult time.

Our hearts are with you ... as they are with our friend Ernie.

Ted F.

Ernie was a well respected member of the Refugees group. You gave it your best shot mate, I'm glad the pain and suffering are over. You were a one-of-a-kind, Ernie. Fondly remembered by Ted F. in Australia.

Our gang will all be thinking of the e-man on the NY Century ride in a couple of weeks.
I'll think of him every time I see a bike.

Ernie (softshoe3) became a great friend to me and my husband. Our condolences are with his Mom and Family. I feel blessed that I had the opportunity to speak with him on a daily basis. When playing cards online with someone I would never dream, I would become so close, that a death would hurt this much. Ernie is a special person and I believe he is riding his bike through the heavens. When he came in the room everyone could hear the NY accent he had by the way he typed. He would put such a huge smile on our faces every time with his humor and great attitude. Even when he was sick and burdened with his illness he always showed the league a great positive outlook on life. Our spades league had a memorial to honor him and made a guest book for him. Family and Friends are welcome to read the guest book, at this link http://www.funlovingspaders.com . Rest well my friend!

Michael Rupp, Mannheim, Germany

My cousin was a really nice man. I do not really remember him, its too long ago that he and his mom left germany. But whenever we called, he every time sent a HALLO to me and my daughters. Sometimes we were talking, when my aunt was not at home. Sabrina, my younger dauther and he were talking sometimes at the phone also. We miss him so much.
It´s hard for me that he is gone-
but he is still a part of my family.
One day we see us in heaven.
Rest in peace, your cousin Mikel.

So, this note from me is a long time coming, ern. When I heard, I didn't know what to say. What to think.

You and I have orbited for almost 2 decades now. Walking and talking with Big Steve all the way home. Seeing you across the room. You were always there. A staple. And then you found me in ar. and we bonded in Refs. Funny thing, that.

And now you're gone. The world is a bit dimmer without you bopping around and thinking those thoughts of yours.

Good bye old friend.
