Joseph F. Mahon, 72, of Weatherly, Pennsylvania, passed away at his home on Tuesday morning.
Born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, on July 8th, 1936, he grew up in Beaver Meadows. He was the son of the late Joseph F. Sr. and Elizabeth (Coyle) Mahon.
Joe was a Korean War veteran having served in the Navy as a Seaman on the Aircraft Carrier USS Randolph.
Before retiring, Joe was a crane operator at Bethlehem Steel.
He was a member of the D.A.V., Beaver Meadows VFW, and he coached T-Ball and Little League in Weatherly.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Sean, and sisters Leona Witchie and Elizabeth Grazio.
Joe is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kemper (Laudenslager) Mahon; son Colin Mahon and his fiancee Stephanie Vinning of Cleveland, OH; daughters Michele Hughes of Allentown, PA and Cathy Tracey of South Carolina; brother Cornelius and his wife Jean of Beaver Meadows, PA; sister Aileen and her husband Anthony Romano of Stroudsburg, PA; and grandchildren Sean Hoffman, Erin Hughes, Abby Grace Mahon, and Morgan and Caroline Tracey. Many nieces and nephews, whom Joe loved dearly, also survive.
Keith Larson will conduct services on Friday, August 1st, 2008, at 11:00 AM, at the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street, Weatherly, PA.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Weatherly.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
